what I would like to know is WHEN is anyone going to admit that the ever increasing population is unsustainable given our already dwindling resources? When is someone going to stop paying families to have more kids and actually restrict families to one or two children maxium? We already have a major water supply issue, food is ever more expensive each year, available housing is a major problem and people are buying more, using more and creating more waste which is to go where??
Why can’t someone finally admit that we all need to slow down, cut back and reserve all our resources and live more simply because our planet in every way cannot support the ever increasing population?
No-one WILL say it because they’re too afraid of the truth of the situation world wide. Denial is a wonderful thing until the sh..t hits the fan.

There is one idea that seems to be completely and intentionally excluded from Rudd’s 2020 summit – the near certainty that the amount of oil available to buy on the world export market will be much lower in 2020 than today and that this will have severe consequences for Australia’s society and economy.
Last week Martin Ferguson, the federal Resources and Energy minister, told the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association conference in Perth, “With only about a decade of known oil resources remaining at today’s production rates, Australia is looking down the barrel of a $25bn trade deficit in petroleum products by 2015″.
One would think that this would be a hot topic at the summit, but there is not a hint of it in the discussion papers that will frame the debates. There are only a couple of people on the delegate list with any known background in the area of future oil availability and the 10 people who applied to attend from Australia’s foremost “peak oil” organisation, ASPO-Aus, were all turned down. It is clear that the Rudd government is very concerned about future oil supplies for Australia but all discussion at the summit will be based on the false assumption of ready future availability. What hypocrisy!
