Australia 2020 Summit – Interview with Robyn Slarke

April 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

At the conclusion of the summit I interviewed people from as many ’streams’ (topic areas) as I could. As I was putting my microphone away, Robyn Slarke approached me and asked to be heard – how could I refuse? Her passion for social justice and concern for the plight of women in Australia’s neighbouring countries is obvious.

WOW- what an amazing woman, courage, conviction, passion, determination and a real commitment to amking a difference.

Thank you so much for being there Tim and sharing this with all of us.

These stories, the audible buzz and the diversity of experience and opinion make me think that we are so blessed and so rich in this country. We can listen to each other. We can have diverse visions about the future.

The summit might not be perfect in it’s format and outputs, but I think that it’s achieved outputs almost unimaginable with the previous government – it’s got people talking about the future, looking to Canberra with relevancy, and it’s re-created the fundamental tenenants of democracy: an informed and participatory electorate.

    It’s a pretty good start.

Yes WOW – I’m a close friend of Robyn and her commitment and passion for woman’s rights over the years before anything else is amazing.

We are so blessed living in a country that has so much freedom.
